Low Carb Diet Info :
Low carb diets have become extremely popular
in recent times with celebrities endorsing them and many
restaurants offering "low carb choices", but do they really
work? As with any diet, their effectiveness depends on if the
diet is a good fit for you and how well you follow it. All the various low carb diet info today can
be very confusing with some proponents claiming it is the best
way to lose weight while others say low carb diets are
unhealthy. So how to sift through all the low carb diet info to
figure out if it is the right diet for you?
First, as with any diet, discuss the low carb
diet with your doctor. Ask if he/she thinks it is the best plan
for you and if he/she has a recommendation for a particular low
carb diet plan. If you are interested in trying a certain diet,
such as Atkins or South Beach, ask your doctor specifically
about that plan. Be sure that you do not have any health
problems that may become worse by going on a low carb diet.
After getting the ok from your doctor, study
the various diets and look at what foods they allow and which
are forbidden. Does it look like a plan you can actually follow?
If not, then you may be best to consider some other type of diet
program. Unlike a calorie restriction diet where you may be able
to "cheat" slightly on calories by doing additional exercises, a
diet like Atkins must be followed very strictly since the goal
is to reach ketosis and this can be prevented by any cheating
thus rendering the diet not effective.
Be sure you obtain a copy of the actual diet
written by the person who developed the diet and totally
understand the principle behind it. don't listen to friends who
may say "you can eat this on low carb but not that" or people
who say "low carb just means you eat meat cheese and eggs all
the time". Research as much low carb diet info as you can.You
must understand the reason for the diet and be committed to
sticking with it.
